PE
By the end of their primary school years, all pupils will have been given the opportunity to develop skills in six areas of physical education, games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities and swimming.
The school promotes the importance of physical activity, a healthy lifestyle, fair play, good sporting behaviour and safe practice including the wearing of appropriate clothing and the correct use of equipment.
Children follow the National Curriculum programmes of study for physical education. Facilities include a good-sized hall, hard netball court and a grass field for outdoor games and athletics.
Each year group dedicates two hours a week to physical education. Additionally, children are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of after school clubs, including football, netball, rugby, golf and cricket amongst many.
Children also have many opportunities to participate in small school cluster tournaments. All children gain from the swimming lessons offered through the year using the pool at The Friary High School.
A healthy life style is also encouraged via healthy school lunches, promotion of water usage throughout the day.
